Behind the product
The WASSERSCHNAUZE’s main textile, Lightning, is a permanently waterproof barrier with more insulation than the Schloss Tex 3L textile on our RS Rain Jacket Targa. Native elasticity enables four-season layering over equipment ranging from summer-weight jerseys to heavier winter jackets. Bonded and taped hems paired with a flap-shielded, glove-friendly zipper eliminate any gaps in waterproofing, and NACA Tec underarm construction shields against road spray and precipitation while increasing breathability. Reflective tape on the back keeps you visible in overcast, low-light conditions, and the internal chest pocket is large enough to stash gloves for when the weather requires additional hand protection.

Technology overview

The finer details

FEATURED FABRICS

Lightning is a new, breathable 130g/m² 2L textile that maximizes water protection, stabilizes the microclimate with light thermoregulation, and provides an elastic, layerable fit. Permanent water repellency eliminates the need for a DWR treatment. A soft circular knit lining adds light insulation with a gentle touch on skin or layers, and the 2L construction eliminates the potential of added weight through water absorption by a face fabric. Type.OF11 adds DWR-treated breathability under the arms.
CONSTRUCTION/FIT

The textile’s high elasticity allows its streamlined regularFit to layer over any jersey or jacket. Taped and bonded seams complete the water-repelling barrier.
ENGINEERING

ASSOSOIRES pocket:
A large, internal pocket that stows and protects gloves and warmers to prepare the rider for any conditions.
ENGINEERING
Innovative underarm construction that maximizes ventilation and breathability without compromising water repellency.

WHEN/HOW TO USE IT

Stow in a pocket or frame bag for protection during long-distance rides or while touring in the variable conditions of spring and fall, or layer over thermal layers or a jacket for additional protection in deep winter.
